In the news...

Tony Blair really should get a better publicist.

This made the front page of my hometown paper. This is all the contraband confiscated from a lockdown of my high school alma mater. It's a lot less than you'd think for a school of more than 1700 students. That's not even a real gun, it's a pellet gun. I probably would have been suspended for having OTC drugs if they'd done this when I was in high school. I always had some ibuprofen or something in my backpack. Sigh, is hand searching our children reall necessary?

I dunno. MacGyver probably could have made a dirty bomb out of those materials. And he'd have had enough left over to refurbish the entire outside of a boat.

Ack. A ban on painkillers would have probably meant missing several days of school every month for me.

That's horrible.

An update on this story on my hometown paper's website now reveals that every stinking bit of contraband was turned in by students during an amnesty period before the search.

Boy, what would my rinky dink hometown do without creating some drama. Sigh.
