I miss this man. He left a total of 10 minutes ago for a two week stint in TN, working on a freelance assignment. I about didn't let him leave. I cried and made it hard for him. Our one nervous cat even let him hold her...that's a rarity.
I've always prided myself on being independent and not needing other people to be a productive and fulfilled human being. But, damn, this is hard. And it's harder every time that we have to be apart for one reason or another. We talked about that today, how it's harder every time we say goodbye for a freelance trip, a family visit, or what have you.
He said all sorts of sweet things. Like, "You're my favorite person in the whole world," and "I'm so glad I married you." Me too, babe. Me too.

Hang in there, chica! I know how it is. Just remember to eat well (or at least, don't succumb to just eating junk food, like I so often do), don't stay up too late reading, and give the kitty lots of hugs. And don't be afraid to call people up (especially on nights you usually go out and do something) and ask if you can hang out.
Mrs. Zeke has been taking care of my mom in Arizona for a total of over two months now, including all of the last six weeks. And there's no end in sight. So I drive six hours every weekend to be with her and my daughter.
Forget that... I used to hate it when I would spend a night or two on business in the Bay Area. I am such a family man, it's pathetic.
Yeah, and I"m whining about two weeks. A classmate of mine was apart from his wife for two years while he was in grad school and she was in med school. WOW!
