I went shopping today. Please leave all the lame "when your husband is out of town, you go shopping" remarks in your head and not on my blog.
My questions is this: (I assume I'm talking to the ladies, but you never know.) What does one wear with Knee-high black leather boots with heels? I know they'll work with my really long denim skirt and a sweater. But how do I venture into the world of reasonably short skirts with knee high boots and still look more like a therapist than a street walker? Since I got that tattoo, I guess I really have to watch myself. ;)
Advice, please give.

I've always liked the Velma-ish look: sweater, mini-skirt and boots. As far as not looking like a hooker goes, maybe if you tried something like was a little more muted and feminine but not dowdy? I saw a pink and grey tartan skirt a while back that I liked, and would go really well with boots. I wish I'd actually given in and bought it :P
Not that I know anything at all about fashion, so take it with a grain of salt.
Straight denim pencil skirt to just above the knee may be a reasonable foray into the boots-with-shorter-skirts-without-looking-like-a-hooker genre. Oh, and pairing whatever skirt with a modest top/sweater will help counteract your own self-consciousness. Its hard to tug at your hem line and your cleavage at the same time.
Listen to me! Like I know a thing about fashion? I'm wearing oversized jeans, a hooded sweatshirt and ball cap pulled over a ponytail as I write. AND I'm in public. Sheesh!
Hey now. What's wrong with oversized jeans and hooded sweatshirts?
I, too, just acquired a pair of knee-high black boots with pointy heels. I plan on wearing them with straight and A-line skirts that hit just above the knee. That way, only the knees are showing. I must admit, though, it DOES look kinda sexy in that "I'm-just-trying-to-be-stylish-not-sexy" kind of way.
If it seems like too much skin, just wear thick tights with them. I guess the question then becomes-should tights match the skirt, or the shoes?
I've also found that the boots look fabu with boot-cut jeans.
At any rate, I second the above advice and say wear them with modest tops. Only one "sexy" article of clothing per outfit! ;)

I agree with the tights comment above, they are really back in this fall/winter (so good for me with the dayglo white legs!). As to the skirt to boot matching question, just pick something neutral... okay to match brown with skirt that has both brown / black and purple, even if boots are black... there you go, that's my fashonista moment for the year, best of luck with your fabulous boots!
