Country Roads take me Home

My husband assures me that it's soley because I am a freak of nature, but looking at certain pictures makes my heart feel as if it's going to explode (in a good way). For my practicum site, an organization seeking to train clinicians for rural practice, we are supposed to rustle up some photos of our hometowns. I did that last night and this morning, and I just got all giddy inside. I glance at a million and one pictures like these (especially the mountain ones) and don't even notice the beauty because all of my life I have been immersed in these luscious mountains, streams, and forests.

Indiana Road Trip

Now, leave me alone. After working my tail end off all weekend to write 2 psych reports, a paper, reading for class, cover letters for clerkship positions, and so on, I'm claiming the waning hours of Sunday for me, my husband, and the television.

Playing Catch-up (Not Kethcup).

Well, it appears I have a problem with committment. I have been so wiped by school that I've been avoiding even posting a simple picture. Well, today I play catch-up by providing a series of shots from Vienna, Austria.

Acrobats. We saw them in Vienna, and a short while later, we saw them again in Downtown Chicago. Weirdness.


The Vienna Opera House. Standing room only tickets are only 2 Euro the day of the show. Which means that you don't feel guilty when you leave soon after the show begins because you can only handle so much opera.

Bizarre International Moment

Two summers ago, in Sopron, Hungary, the group of mission volunteers were preparing to go on tours of the sleepy Hungarian town. Americans (especially the ones we were with) can be loud and forget that the rest of the world has enough of a reason to hate us without us being loud in their streets when we're visiting.

This nice lady was drawn to her window by the noise of our group. I caught her eye and waved, pointed to my camera, making the universal "Can I take a picture?" face. She got all embarrassed in a friendly way. Then she hid behind the curtain, pulled out this doll, and made it wave at me for a picture. Bizarre, but one of my favorite moments.

And I forgot to post a picture yesterday. But, here you are internets. 2 photos, today's and yesterday's. You better appreciate it, kid.
The kitties shame us by showing what that thing really gets used for.


They love the bed when it's sheet changing time. It's a special occasion since I started graduate school. Well, not that special. Just more special than it used to be.
